The Magic of Disney
Disney princesses- The most magical women on earth
The history of the film Frozen
By Kate Perzanowski
Although Disney’s Frozen was released last year, it continues to be a big hit. The film is still so popular that more and more families are naming their girls either Anna or Elsa after the main characters in the movie. Due to the popularity of the film a game has also been created, and Disney has many other surprises in store for Frozen lovers.
The film is about two princesses, Anna and Elsa, who live in a castle. Elsa, who is the older of the two princesses is next in line to be the queen after her parents die. The guests visiting for the coronation, crowning ceremony, learn that Elsa has a secret power which allows her to freeze things. As a result, the guests at this party become scared of her.
Did you know that the film was at first being written with Elsa as the villain? However, when the producers of the film heard the now infamous song, “Let it Go,” they decided to rewrite the film and make her character into something completely different. In the story, Elsa decides to run off and the rest of the story is how Anna tries to get her to come back. The switch has certainly paid off, and the film has become a huge success.
When Elsa sings “Let It Go” in the movie it was meant to show how happy was to be alone and free. I don't know about you, but that song certainly stuck in my head!

Disney Princesses-
The most magical women on earth
By Phoebe Charpentier
Many children look up to the Disney princesses when they are little. Disney Princesses are important to people because they inspire us to follow our dreams and encourage us to feel good about ourselves.
Andy Mooney created the official Disney princess franchise in 1990, after seeing the homemade costumes at a Disney On Ice show. The first princesses to join the franchise were Snow White, Cinderella, Ariel, and Aurora.
The first Disney princess ever created is Snow White. She is only 14 years old when she meets Prince Ferdinand, and was created by Walt Disney himself. Cinderella was the next princess. She was the first princess in the franchise to have siblings. She married into royalty after finding her literal Prince Charming.
Aurora is the next princess, and she is the first princess to be physically injured by a villain. She is considered the purest of the Disney royalty because both of her parents are from royal families. She marries Prince Philip, but doesn’t know about her spot on the throne until her 16th birthday. Ariel is the first Disney princess to be a creature and not a human, and she is the first to give birth to a child. Her and her six sisters represent the seven oceans of the world.
Princess Belle, my personal favorite, has a relationship with Prince Adam. She is the first princess to be the antagonist of her own love story. In the film, Beauty and the Beast, Belle and the Beast are the only characters to wear blue, signifying the fact that they don't fit in with the rest of the characters in their story.
Princess Jasmine, from Aladdin, is the first to marry a commoner (someone not of royalty). As a result, she is the first princess to not become a queen. Pocahontas is the first princess to be based from a real person, and the first to have two princes in which she has to choose from. Her love interest is John Smith, who not a prince, but an explorer. Pocahontas goes through the least amount of costume changes as a Disney princess, wearing only one outfit for the entire movie. Princess Mulan ends up marrying Shang in her story. Although neither are actually royalty, she is still considered a princess. The woman who is the voice of Mulan is also the voice of the mother in Phineas and Ferb. One of the newest princesses is Tiana, and she is the first African American princess in the franchise. Tiana has the most costume changes out of any Disney princess, changing a total of nine times throughout the movie.Another one of my favorite Disney princesses is Rapunzel. She is the first princess to have magical powers. She is related to Anna and Elsa from the Disney film Frozen, because she was seen at Elsa’s coronation. Anna and Elsa are currently not yet considered to be Disney princesses, but could be in the future.
Lastly, is princess Merida from Brave. She is the first Pixar princess, and the first princess with no love interest. The Disney princesses teach us life lessons like kindness and individuality. We can all take lessons from these amazing women.
